If you are a starter to do renovation, there are a number of factors to consider which include budget, time limit and available resources. Whether you are planning a modest makeover or an all-out remodel, you should make sure what upgrades you should attempt and what tasks you should consider call in a pro.

Kitchen is the centre of a house. Through day to day lives, kitchen is always be the one that you would like to makeover in the first place. While DIY Kitchen renovation actually is not rocket science and there are seemingly endless resources available to help you do it yourselves, such as step-by-step instructions and online how-to youtube videos. When you do that, you would notice that in the beginning you were always prepare everything full of passion however gradually both your patience and physical power are not that enough as it were.

“DIY your home is a way to save a lot of money indeed.” Says Sophie, Chief Designer and Director of Metomego. “There are some areas you can DIY on your own, for example, you can do your bedroom wall painting, clean gutters, paint fences, and other maintenance. While you should avoid DIY jobs like plumbing, heating electrical and cabinet installation and all these works are included in a kitchen renovation. I remembered last year, one of our customer tried to install kitchen wall cabinet and disastrous results happened. Luckily no one was hurt. You might end up spending more on fixing those mistakes than what professional would have cost you.”

“ You can research everything if you are truly interested” says Sophie, “ there are not skills that people can’t learn, but some skills may only be truly understood with real operations. How to attach wall cabinet to the wall is a very tricky thing. Smaller items can be hung pretty securely on the wall by screwing into the wood lath, but for heavy things like large mirrors and cabinets, it should be hung to the studs in a plaster wall. Also stone bench top should be installed by professional because surface would be cut for openings with professional tools for sink and cooktop installation.
